Trump Organization Sought to Hire Almost 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s corporate entity increased its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this period, even as his administration was creating barriers for other companies wanting to do the same, a report released recently stated.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization aimed to bring in at least nearly 200 overseas employees in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of applications for temporary work visas for staff including servers, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and farm workers was the record filed by the organization, and increased from over 120 in 2021, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that the former president had sought to bring in over a hundred overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The revelation coincides with a tightening on legal immigration by his government that has included the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who possess US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and journalists.

Overall, the Trump Organization aimed to employ over 560 overseas workers over the period the former president has been in the White House, from his first term and during the upcoming year.

Significantly, Trump was questioned by certain in the GOP this week for remarks justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill particular roles.

“You can’t just say a nation is entering, going to invest $10bn to construct a plant, and going to take people off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in five years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that well,” he stated to a interviewer after it was implied that overseas employees undercut the pay of US workers.

The administration refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
