Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
