Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.

"Enough time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor shared archival material from the film, commenting that he could not remember "any day without mirth".

"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator

In a distinct essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.

"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.

This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.

A legal directive put a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the probe.

The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
