Barça to Host First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga over two years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization by UEFA to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
